Professional tuition, outstanding examination results – and lots of fun!

Devas School of Dance, Drama and Fitness has been under the guidance of Shelly Jepson since 1992. Shelly has a passion for dance and for teaching and ensures that the school is run efficiently. The school has a reputation for high standards with outstanding examination results.

While technique is high on the list of priorities, having fun plays a massive part at Devas and we provide professional tuition whether you are looking for recreational classes or wanting a professional career. Devas has several pupils that have gone on to have a professional career and their successes include West End Shows Dirty Dancing, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Les Miserable, Matilda and Bat out of Hell the Musical.

We are a friendly school and have a real family atmosphere, which we're really proud of.

Our Shows: We hold regular shows at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield, as well as our mini shows at smaller venues. Our pupils enjoy performing as they can display their talents and love every minute. Performing in our shows helps to build teamwork skills and confidence as well as improving all-round technique. All pupils are invited to participate in our shows but weekly regular attendance is an absolute must so they can keep up with the routines. Any pupils unable to perform in the shows will still have their place in class and will learn the routines alongside the other class members. A detailed letter about what is required for ours shows is given out before we start show work and email updates are sent on a regular basis so that parents/guardians are guided every step of the way.

Uniform: Details of Devas school uniform are handed to each pupil on their first day at Devas. We ask that new pupils aim to have all the correct uniform within a month of starting with us.

Exams: Pupils from age five are entered for examinations governed by the IDTA. Subjects that take exams are Ballet, Tap, Modern, Disco/Freestyle and Rock & Roll. All pupils in these classes are required to work for their exams but entries can differ due to age and ability. Exams not only better technique but they build confidence, which plays a big part in day-to-day life.

School Closure: Devas stays open throughout most of the year and closes for an average of four weeks in total. All pupils are expected to have regular weekly attendance as we keep our classes smaller so that each pupil gets more attention. Due to this, each pupil gets three weeks a year of absences without paying for classes then any after that need to be paid for.
Fees: Classes are currently priced at £2.70 for a 30-minute class, £3.60 for a 45-minute class and £5.40 for a 60-minute class. New pupils are welcome to try any classes for free during their first week (subject to availability) to see which style they prefer. Private Lessons are £16.00 for 30 minutes.
